I went to my post op appointment Friday to see the G.I. doctor who did my endoscopic procedure. Let's just say I am feeling a little timid about going back! Here is the play by play. My thoughts, not what I say is in ( ).
Me: I have an appointment with the Dr. at 3:45
Rec.: Please sign in and can I please see you ID and medical card?
Me: I have my husbands medical card, but I left my wallet in my other diaper bag (stupid me UGH!)
Rec: Is it the same policy number as yours?
Me: Uh yeah (Would I be giving you a medical card I wasn't a part of lady?)
Rec: Okay please fill out these forms.
While filling out forms
Rec: I want to make sure this patient is eligible. Name_______ Policy _____. Okay thanks. She is eligible
(TOLD YOU! Yeah I am going to take part in insurance fraud)
In room. Doctor comes in.
Doctor: What seems to be the problem today?
Me: I am here for a post op appointment.
Doctor: Post op?
Me: Yes (Isn't it on my chart?)
Doctor: What procedure did I do?
Me: ERCP (Uh shouldn't you know this?)
Doctor: What was the prognosis?
Me: Well the doctor that came in said that a stone either passed before the procedure or there was old bile sludge in the duct causing the inflammation of my liver.
(Are you kidding me? What kind of doctor are you?)
Doctor: Really? Let me go get your chart.
Me: Ok (Shouldn't you have already had this when you walked in?)
Receptionist comes into the room
Rec: When was the procedure?
Me: Last Monday
Receptionist leaves
Receptionist comes back in
Rec: Where was it done?
Me: St. Mary's
(Okay people... Let's get it together)
Receptionist leaves again
Doctor comes back in
Doctor: Okay the sweep was clean so it was probably a stone that passed right before we did the procedure and that is why your numbers were high.
Me: Yeah
(Didn't I just tell you this?)
Doctor: I would like you to have more blood work done in order to see that your liver enzyme numbers are still lowering and then see you back here next month.
Me: Okay
(Hmm... maybe my doctor can do this for me and than I won't have to come back and do your job for you!)
Yes this is exactly how this doctors appointment played out. A little scary I think! Not to mention the mom with her 3 kids. I am a mom, but her kids had stuffy noses and were walking around getting into every ones business. Yes kids can get out of hand, but please take charge and do something about it lady!! The people in here are very sick and don't need you kiddo germs!
Flu season + Me = germaphobia!!!!!!!!!

that is just pathetic...
I am shaking my head and I so agree with you about the kids - one saying that has been taken toooo far is kids will be kids - yes they will be and thank God for them, but that doesn't mean you should keep them in line either!!
Oh my that is very scary, doesn't give you much trust in the system does it?
Hope you are feeling better, and got your Christmas shopping done.
Pam
